A simple and quick getaway…

Want to go somewhere for a long weekend, but hold a passport that makes it difficult to just jump to a destination without planning ahead? Well, here are some countries you can visit.

Residents of the United Arab Emirates from South Africa, India, Lebanon and others will be used to the struggle to get a visa when they want to visit a country. But, fortunately, there are places nearby that allow UAE residency visa holders to bypass the usual visa regulations and obtain a visa upon arrival. Here is a guide…

*Please note: this information was all correct at the time of publication, but visa law is subject to change, and quickly, so check with your travel expert or consulate before committing to any travel plans…

ARMENIA

Armenia

Armenia has a special visa waiver program for Indian nationals with a UAE residency visa. Indians can normally only enter Armenia as diplomats or upon invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, if they have a UAE residency visa, they will obtain a visit visa upon arrival through an agreement with the bucket. (A short stay visa on arrival will cost around 20 Dhs according to reports.)

Meanwhile, Lebanese, Jordanian and South African nationals will obtain a visa upon arrival (as will citizens of the United Arab Emirates). Some of those who won’t? Pakistanis, Syrians, Saudis, Nepalese, Sri Lankans and all other African nationalities (among others).

GEORGIA

GEORGIA

Although there is no Georgian consulate you can phone in the UAE, we have been told by several airlines and travel agencies that anyone with a UAE residency visa can enter this booming tourist spot for 90 days visa free.

All you need to do is present your valid residence visa on arrival.

Here are the full details from the generally reliable visa headquarters: “Holders of a valid UAE visa or residence permit are exempt from the visa requirement. You can enter Georgia without a visa for 90 days within a 180-day period. Please note that you must present a valid visa or residence permit and your travel document/passport when crossing the Georgian border. »

AZERBAIJAN

AZERBAIJAN

If you have a UAE residency visa and are traveling to the oil-rich country, you can obtain a visa upon arrival.

All you need to do is present your passport with a valid UAE residency visa at the airport and you will be entitled to stay for one month. However, if you plan to stay in the country for more than 15 days, you will need to register with the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Your hotel should be able to help you when you arrive.

MONTENEGRO

Montenegro

This beautiful country has changed its laws to allow citizens of the United Arab Emirates to enter without a visa for a stay of up to 90 days within a period of six months, starting from the date of first entry. Residents of the United Arab Emirates are offered a visa upon arrival for a fee of approximately 300 Dhs. The advantage for us is that we are exempted from paying visa fees online as we don’t have to show any documents.

MALDIVES

MALDIVES

The Maldives is a beautiful island country that offers tourists of all nationalities a 30-day visa on arrival at no additional cost. A foreigner traveling to the Maldives as a tourist does not need prior approval for the visa. However, the person must meet basic entry requirements to obtain immigration clearance upon arrival. This includes a valid passport, return/onward ticket, prepaid accommodation and sufficient funds to cover each day.

SEYCHELLES

SEYCHELLES

Just like the Maldives, this island also has no entry requirements – a visa is issued on arrival as long as the person holds a valid return ticket to their place of origin. The person must fulfill some simple entry requirements to obtain immigration clearance upon arrival. You must have proof of prepaid accommodation and sufficient funds for the duration of your stay (a minimum of 550 Dhs). No one is allowed to enter or leave Seychelles without written permission from the Ministry of Health.

NEPAL

NEPAL

Nepal provides visa on arrival to most nationalities for a small fee. There are three options, a 15 day visa for 110 Dhs, a 30 day visa for 183 Dhs or a 90 day permit for 460 Dhs. Indian passport holders do not need any type of visa. Visas include multiple re-entry facilities.

Other options?

These are the only ones we can find that grant exemptions only to UAE residents, but there are many places that allow visa-free travel for many nationalities living in the UAE.

These include Hong Kong, Indonesia, Mauritius, most of South America and Sri Lanka (again, check based on your specific nationality, but you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised ).
