South African left-handed hitter David Miller has said he wants to replicate his success in the 2022 IPL season with the Gujarat Titans (GT) for the national team when they face India in a 5 game T20I series.

Miller was a vital cog in the well-oiled GT lineup that won its maiden title on the first attempt. With bat in hand, Miller scored 481 runs in 16 games with a 68.71 ERA and 142.72 strike rate.

Obviously scoring the number of runs I made and closing out a few games for the team in the IPL was something I was looking forward to before the tournament. Hitting in the middle order, you always want to finish matches. So I’m proud of that and it was good to check that box.”

Along with that, succeeding as a team and winning the trophy was definitely a highlight. Watching this series now, I want to do pretty much the same thing. It’s been my goal for many years now to try to win games for the team.“said the left-hander during a conversation with SA Cric Mag.

“I feel good, fresh, ready to go” – David Miller

The 2022 IPL season lasted over two months and cricketers hailed the break after its conclusion. Miller went on a trip to the Maldives where he rejuvenated and is now ready to return to the field.

I really enjoy the space I’m in and the experience we have with the guys. We have been playing together for a few years and we are a solid team. It was quite difficult, of course. Two months of IPL, I’ve been pretty busy, lots of matches, but I’ve been feeling really, really good the last two years physically.

I feel good, fresh, ready to go. I took a two-day break in the Maldives and it was pretty good for the mind. But yeah, back in the swing of things and I feel real good to go“, he further added.

The 5-match T20I series begins on June 9 with the first T20I played in New Delhi.
