Bangladesh must wait to secure a place in the final of the SAFF U-20 Championship after India inflicted a massive 8-0 defeat on Nepal in their third match at Kalinga Stadium in Bhuvaneswar, India tonight.

With two wins from three matches, India tied Nepal on six points but still trail the Himalayan nation on goal difference.

Bangladesh topped the table with nine points from three games before India took on Nepal and now both nations have a chance to catch Bangladesh, provided they win their final group matches against the Maldives and Bangladesh, respectively, on August 2.

If more than two teams finish top of the table with equal points, then the head-to-head record, goal difference and best goals scored between three teams will come into effect.

A draw against Nepal is enough for the men in red and green to confirm their last place. However, a defeat of more than two goals will send Bangladesh home should India beat the Maldives as well.
