We’ve said it enough times: Europe is a total and utter mess right now. Staff shortages, strikes, delays and cancellations, long lines and lost luggage have put a damper on summer travel plans. Even in the United States, things are not going well, which makes traveling stressful and expensive. So we’re keeping an eye out for destinations that may be your alternatives if you want to get away without feeling the misery of all that travel chaos.

On Travelzoo, we found a super economical offer on the Maldives. The island nation boasts world-class resorts, stunning scenery, crystal clear waters, and skydiving opportunities. It’s always been a top destination for beach lovers and water babies, but a vacation here comes at a price. But with this resort offer you can save up to 59% ($1,800 and more) on your stay, which is not change. What is even more tempting is the fact that Asia is doing relatively better now, and you can reach your destination with your luggage and your patience.

Located in Raa Atoll (famous for its diving spots), Brennia Kottefaru is a new luxury resort with 142 land and water villas. It has five restaurants and bars, a spa, and several beach and water activities. It has a five-star PADI training facility, so you can tick off another bucket list experience while you’re here.

Travelzoo offers a five-night stay at the resort for $1,299 in the beach villa with indoor and outdoor showers. If you want to enrich your experience, book the water villa for $1,899 with a ladder leading to the ocean, or the ultra-luxury oceanfront pool villa with its own private pool for $5,697. The price also includes daily breakfast and dinner, free access to the fitness center, non-motorized water sports, tennis courts, and daily entertainment. It includes local taxes and service charges.

You can extend your stay for $259 per night. And, the resort also offers discounted all-inclusive packages starting at $1,699, which gets you all meals, unlimited drinks, daily snorkeling, and 20% off spa services. You can book this offer now with 14-day redeemable vouchers and travel until December 23, 2023.

It’s a bargain, but when planning this trip, remember to take into account that it does not include round-trip airport transfers. As the Maldives is an archipelago, you will need to get to the resort from Male airport by speedboat or seaplane. It will cost you an extra $500 per person.

Another thing to consider is that the best time to visit the Maldives is during the dry season, from November to April. Right now it is the rainy season with precipitation that can keep the sun away. But it’s also the time when there are fewer crowds and reasonably low prices in this extravagant, palm-lined paradise on earth.
