Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will depart tomorrow from here for Malé, the capital of the Maldives, for a two-day official visit, at the invitation of Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

“A special Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP flight carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and members of his entourage will depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around noon tomorrow,” Prime Minister’s spokesman Ihsanul said today. Karim.

The flight is expected to reach Male at 3:00 p.m. local time when received by the Maldivian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, four instruments including two memoranda of understanding (MoU) are expected to be signed on 23 December.

The four proposed acts are: Agreement on the Prevention of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Income Taxes; Agreement on the transfer of prisoners; MoU in health care and medical sciences between Bangladesh and Maldives (renewal); and the Memorandum of Understanding between Bangladesh and the Maldives on cooperation in the field of youth and sport development.

In addition, the Memorandum of Understanding on the recruitment of qualified health professionals between Bangladesh and the Maldives will be renewed.

During the visit, Bangladesh will donate 13 military vehicles to the Maldives as a sign of friendship between the two South Asian countries.

The prime minister is expected to arrive in Dhaka on the afternoon of December 27.
