India’s young opening hitter Prithvi Shaw has failed to find a place in India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming three-game ODI series against Zimbabwe. Veteran opening hitter Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team once again. He captained the Men in Blue in the three-game ODI series against West Indies last month and helped them win the mission by a 3-0 margin.
Shaw, who has played six ODI games for India since making his debut against New Zealand in Hamilton on February 5, 2020, last played a clean ball game for the country in Sri Lanka this year last, when he was part of the second channel. Indian team under the leadership of Dhawan and the mentorship of Rahul Dravid.

Prithvi has made a name for himself in domestic cricket and the IPL, but he is yet to establish himself as a regular member of the Indian team. He made his Test debut against West Indies in 2018 and scored a century in his first run and followed it up with a Series Player award, but since then has also failed to get his place in the test team. So far in his four-year international career, he has only played 5 Tests, 6 ODIs and 1 T20I.

Prithvi was in touch with IPL 2022 earlier this year but was left out of the T20I five-match home series against South Africa. In this mission, many young people had the opportunity to present their case in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, but Shaw was overlooked.

Some pundits expected him to be part of the Zimbabwe tour, but he was not named in the squad.
