SINGAPORE, March 21, 2022: After nearly two years of lockdowns and restrictions, Singaporeans are once again heading overseas to enjoy the spring break, according to the Tripadvisor survey.

The latest Spring Travel Seasonal Index identifies the top 10 destinations likely to attract Singaporeans based on search and sentiment data.

Despite rising fuel prices and inflation, the Tripadvisor index says nearly half of Singaporeans (43%) are planning a vacation this spring (March to May 2022), compared to just over a third ( 35%) of Singaporeans who have traveled within the same country. period of last year.

Along with more travel, Singaporean travelers also plan to spend more money. Of those who traveled last year and planned to do so again, more than half (55%) plan to spend more than they did in 2021, and almost a quarter (23%) plan to spend a lot more. Data from Tripadvisor confirms this sentiment, as average spend per booking for Singaporean travelers this spring has increased by 181% year-on-year.

Almost half (48%) of Singaporeans said they plan to experience something new on their next trip. Looking at the most popular experience categories for Singaporeans this spring 2022, cooking classes, water trips and bike rides came out on top.

Data collected and analyzed from two key sources

● A Tripadvisor consumer opinion survey, based on data from an online survey of over 5,000 consumers, in partnership with Qualtrics. The survey was conducted from February 22, 2022 to February 28, 2022 in six countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Singapore and Japan.

● Site behavioral data derived from first-party traffic data on the Tripadvisor platform collected during the week beginning February 21, 2022, for searches made by Singaporean travelers from January 1, 2022 to February 22, 2022 for travel between March 1, 2022 and May 31, 2022.
