    1. Easy minimum spend requirement

To unlock the Amex Hilton Card bonus, you will need to spend $1,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening your account. This equates to $334 per month.

If you just remember to use the credit card for big expenses like groceries each month, you’ll almost certainly meet the spending requirement with no extra effort.

It’s worth pointing out how painless this $1,000 spending requirement is. Other travel cards, such as the Ink Business Preferred® credit card and Business Platinum Card® from American Express

keep their welcome bonuses behind a $15,000 requirement that must be met within three months of account opening.

    2. Enough bonus points for several free hotel nights

From this bonus, you will receive 70,000 Hilton Points. Insider estimates the value of Hilton Points at 0.5 cents each, making this bonus worth an average of $350 in travel.

Hilton hotels cost between 10,000 points (for roadside budget hotels) and 95,000 points (for luxury hotels) per night (although a few cost upwards of 120,000 points per night). If you want to stretch your points, it’s not hard to find a modest Hilton hotel for 20,000 points a night. With 70,000 points, you can easily book three absolutely free nights with Hilton.

    3. Free Night Reward

Now for the meat and potatoes of the Amex Hilton Card welcome bonus: in addition to 70,000 points you will receive a free night which can be used in (almost) any Hilton hotel in the world.

You can use it for a night at the Hampton Inn along the highway on a road trip. You can use it for one night at the Conrad Maldives, which regularly costs $1,500 and up per night. The value you will receive depends entirely on where you use it. As long as there are standard reward rates for your desired night, this free night reward will have you covered.

You can also use it in conjunction with your free night award for a two-night tropical stay at a hotel like Harbor Club St. Lucia, Curio Collection by Hilton. This hotel costs as little as 46,000 to 65,000 points per night and can cost upwards of $300 per night.

Or, you can wait until you accumulate 95,000 points and use your points and free night reward to stay at Casa Marina Key West, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, which costs over $1,000 per night.

Insider considers these Free Night Awards one of the best travel deals. Just note that they expire one year from the date of issue, so make sure you don’t let that benefit go to waste.

    4. Convenient bonus categories

The Amex Hilton Card has some of the most useful bonus categories for everyday spending. You will recieve :

    • 7 points per dollar spent on qualifying purchases at Hilton hotels
    • 5 points per dollar spent at eligible US restaurants, US supermarkets and US gas stations
    • 3 points per dollar on all other qualifying purchases

As you can see, it’s easy to earn points with this card. If you meet your minimum spend requirement of $1,000 with restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations exclusively, you will have added an additional 5,000 points to your 70,000 point bonus. Regularly swiping that card for those purchases could easily net you over 60,000 points a year.

At the end of the line

If you wanted to try the world of (almost) free travel through credit card rewards, the Amex Hilton Card is an ideal travel credit card. There is absolutely no risk in opening the card, as it has no annual fee. This is probably the best welcome bonus we’ve ever seen from a credit card with no annual fee. You can potentially receive thousands of dollars, depending on how you use it.

One big caveat about opening this card: once you’ve booked your first free hotel stay, it’s easy to get addicted to reward travel. I personally have 22 open credit cards (seven of which are hotel credit cards), and I can’t remember the last time I paid for a hotel room – or a plane ticket, Moreover.
