According to OYO Travelopedia, a majority of Indians would prefer to go locally and explore domestic destinations over international ones this year with Goa topping the list followed by Manali.
According to the survey, 61% of Indians would prefer to get out there and explore domestic destinations, while 25% would like to try international and domestic trips this year.
Despite the excitement of travelling, 80% of those surveyed said safety remained a major concern amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and that the arrival of a booster shot would give them confidence to travel .
As for the preferred destination concerned, Goa tops a third of respondents’ 2022 bucket lists, he said.
“Following Manali, Dubai, Shimla and Kerala,” said the hotel chain OYO, adding other international destinations on the list of Indian travelers, including the Maldives, Paris, Bali and Switzerland.
When it comes to travel partners, 37% of respondents said they would like to travel with their spouse or partner. On the other hand, 19% said they would “love to take that long-awaited vacation with close friends”, while 16% opted for a family vacation and 12% preferred hiking alone.
“A good 16% of respondents said they would love everything!” the poll reads. According to OYO Travelopedia, in Indonesia, Bali emerged as the preferred destination for 2022, while in Europe, a majority of respondents opted for Bornholm, the Danish island in the Baltic Sea.
A large majority of Dutch people said they would like to travel to Austria this year.
OYO Travelopedia, the annual consumer survey conducted by OYO to study the travel intentions and expectations of its user base in some of its major markets, including India, Indonesia and Europe, collected the responses of about 3,000 people in December last year.
