Currently, the UK is reporting nearly 10,000 Covid-19 positive cases every day. The weekly average in London is just 11,221 while in Leicester it is over 1,600 cases per day.

India has also had its fair share of COVID-19 cases, with Ravichandran Ashwin missing the flight to England after testing positive. Former captain Virat Kohli was also believed to have tested positive after arriving from his holiday in the Maldives, but recovered in time to make the flight.

India team head coach Rahul Dravid had earlier said he wanted a full squad for the warm-up game against Leicestershire. It looks like the coach’s wish won’t be granted as the medical staff have reported not fielding a full squad due to the growing COVID threat. India will face Leicestershire in the warm-up match from June 24.
