Yas Plaza Hotels Abu Dhabi has appointed a new executive chef at their famous foodie’s favorite Asian restaurant in the capital, Jing Asia at Crowne Plaza Yas Island. A Vietnamese national, Do Van Quy will enter the Yas Island property directly from one of the top IHG hotels in Vietnam, the Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, bringing with him more than nine years of exceptional dining experience in the hospitality industry by working with four different international hotels and resorts. Chef Quy brings a wealth of talent to the Yas Plaza Hotels venue to further enhance the property’s Asian culinary offerings.

Chef Quy started his professional career in 2013 in the city of Hai Phong by opening his own restaurant. Here, he began to specialize in Pho soup noodles, while learning key management skills that landed him several roles with leadership responsibilities in his future career. Later in 2016, to pursue international opportunities with diverse culinary talents, Chef Quy had his first hotel experience in the Middle East at an Accor property in Bahrain, Sofitel Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa, where he worked as a demi- chef and launched his gourmet chef experience. . He has steadily risen through the ranks and in 2018 took the position of chef de partie at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Bahrain Bay. This is where he started specializing in hand-pulled noodles, wok and Peking duck which quickly became his specialty.

From 2019 to 2021, Chef Quy had the honor of working with some of the world’s top IHG hotels, such as one of the Maldives’ premier tourist destinations, the InterContinental Maamunagau Resort. There, he assisted the Executive Chef in setting up the culinary department during the resort’s pre-opening. This secured a well-deserved promotion from chef de partie to senior chef de partie within two months of his arrival. From there, it continued to go up for him thanks to his impeccable flair in Asian cuisine, in addition to being an excellent team player. From now on, he is then recruited as Junior Sous-Chef at the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel & Resort, in the Vietnamese capital. Soon after, he became Sous Chef for the IHG Group at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, where he took charge of the main kitchen while excelling in all-day dining at Citron Restaurant.

Coming from a wealth of culinary experience working with several renowned hotels and restaurants around the world, Chef Quy moved to Abu Dhabi in 2022 to join the team at Crowne Plaza Yas Island’s beloved Asian restaurant, Jing Asia in as the new chef. He is dedicated to wowing diners in the UAE beyond the usual dining experience, which is why he will be leading a cooking class on August 28.e to pass on to foodie fanatics his unique skills of mastering hand-pulled noodles. Yas Plaza Hotels is also set to launch Chef Quy’s exclusive pop-up series every Sunday night starting August 7.e where diners can enjoy the chef’s deliciously prepared hand-cooked noodles and wok at the live station, accompanied by serving everyone a delicious Peking Duck on a trolley.
